VERY SAD!!! MISSING 26 YEAR OLD BRITISH TOURIST ADEMOLA OWOLANA FOUND DEAD

 

The body found at the Metra Electric Kensington Rail Yard in Chicago's West Pullman neighborhood is missing British tourist Ademola Owolana, a family spokesperson confirmed.

It's not clear how the body of Owolana, 26, ended up on top of a retired Metra Electric rail car. The man from London came to Chicago with his mother to visit relatives.

Crisis responder Andrew Holmes spent time tonight consoling Owolana's grieving mother.

"I really, really didn't want to turn out this way," Holmes said. "She didn't want to take her son back home like this."

Owolana was last seen early Saturday morning leaving a club in West Pullman after a night of drinking. The family said he took off on foot when a relative wouldn't give up the car keys.

His loved ones had been on a desperate search ever since. That search ended Tuesday afternoon when his body was found in the Kensington Rail Yard, not far away from where he disappeared.

"We have to leave that up to the detectives and the medical examiners to determine what, when and how long he's been there and how it exactly happened," Holmes said.

Investigators are ruling out foul play, but many questions remain. Police hope to get some answers from surveillance cameras in the area.

A cause of death has not been determined.

BLOODSHED IN OGONI LAND: SOLDIERS CLASH WITH MILITANTS IN RIVERS STATE

At least four people were reportedly killed today, February 23, in Bori, headquarters of Gokhana local government area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State as soldiers allegedly clashed with loyalists of an ex militant leader, Mr Solomon Ndigbara, aka Osama Bin Ladin.

According to Vanguard, following the shootout, some students of the Kenule Beeson Sarowiwa Polytechnic in Bori said on getting to class, they discovered that academic activities had been suspended indefinitely.

“We were told the school said it was lecture free day from yesterday till further notice. We are sure they dont want to announce closure for now, they are studying the situation”, they said.

The tension arising from the clash also forced motor parks, the market and major stores in the area to shut down, the newspaper gathered.

Report said community sources saw five corpses on Taabaa street, adding that people were living in fear.

Hajia Fadimatu Mai Talle Tara, the 90 year old woman who donated her N1 million savings to the Buhari presidential campaign organization last year has died. She died this morning at her home.

She was a popular food vendor in Koko, Koko/Besse Local Government Area of Kebbi State. She was a widow and is survived by 15 children and 15 grandchildren. May her soul rest in peace, Amen.

SAD: Boy, 13, allegedly ‘beaten to death by teachers’ for leaving school grounds to wave to parents

A BOY who briefly left school grounds to wave goodbye to his parents was allegedly beaten to death by teachers as a punishment.

The family of Year 6 student Shamim Mullick said staff at Al Islamia Mission School in Majlishpur, India inflicted fatal injuries on the 13-year-old.

Police this week confirmed they have arrested the school’s owner and principal as part of a murder investigation.

“Headmaster Hanif Sheikh and school’s owner Shahzada Al Mamun alias Liton Sheikh have been arrested after a complaint was lodged at Barwan police station,” Superintendent of Police Murshidabad, C Sudhakar, said.

Shamim’s parents had reportedly visited their only child at the private residential school before leaving to return home on Monday morning.

Shamim reportedly left his parents at the school gate before turning around and crossing the school boundary to give them one more wave goodbye.

When Shamim returned to the campus, Sheikh was allegedly furious that the teen hadn’t sought permission to leave, and allegedly attacked Shamim.

Shamim was taken to a nearby nursing home, which — along with the school — is owned by Sheikh, but it wasn’t until his condition deteriorated further that he rushed to a nearby government hospital that night.

Doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Shamim’s devastated parents said they first heard about their son’s fate when they got a call from the school at midnight to say he was dead.

The Indian Express reported that Shamim’s father Jugnu said: “We were not even informed by the school. This despite the fact that my cellphone number is registered with the school. At around midnight, I got a call from the hospital that my son has died. When I called up the school authorities, they told me that our son had fallen sick while studying.

“It was later from the hospital and other sources that we came to know that our son was beaten up mercilessly by the headmaster.”

Jugnu said the school initially tried to claim that the boy had simply fallen ill while studying — but the hospital confirmed he’d died as a result of a savage beating.

Shamim’s parents claim they were later told that the beating had been carried out by Sheikh.

They made a formal complaint to police who arrested Sheikh and the school’s owner Mamun.

The pair are on remand.

SHOCKING: Fmr Chief of Air Staff buried $3 million in soakaway

New Telegraph reports that the EFCC has retrieved $3 million cash in Amosu’s residence in his residence in Badagary, Lagos. A source told New Telegraph that the money, in foreign currency, was retrieved when EFCC operatives carried out a search on Amosu’s residence in Badagry.

According to the source: “In continuation of the investigation into the arms probe, the EFCC operatives took Amosu to his residence in Badagry. After a thorough search of the residence, a fresh small ‘soakaway’ pit was discovered in the compound. The operatives suspected foul play, which informed the breaking of the ‘soakaway’. Surprisingly, $1 million was found in it. The money was subsequently confiscated.”

New Telegraph also learnt that Air Commodore Akinwale (rtd) who manages the St. Solomon Health Care Limited, an ultra-modern diagnostic centre owned by Amosu, along Adeniyi Jones Avenue in Ikeja, Lagos is still in the custody of the EFCC. The retired airforce officer oversees the medical centre on behalf of Amosu.

The diagnostic centre has been sealed off by the anti-graft agency. Meanwhile, the EFCC is still keeping Amosu, Adigun, and Air Commodore O. Gbadebo in Lagos. A source said that the anti-graft agency has been taking the indicted officers to assets traced to them, considered to have been acquired through funds illegally realised from the arms procurement. Some of the identified properties have been sealed off.

Amosu, Adigun and Gbadebo were arrested two weeks ago in Abuja. Impeccable sources told New Telegraph that the trio were flown into Lagos in an airforce aircraft on a Sunday and discreetly kept in a hotel.

The arrest and interrogation of Amosu is coming after New Telegraph had exclusively reported in the November 30, 2015 edition, that the Federal Government had directed the EFCC to prosecute the ex-CAS. Amosu, Adigun, Gbadebo and other indicted officers are being investigated over 10 NAF contracts totalling $930,500,690 awarded to Societe D’ Equipments Internationaux (SEI) Nig Ltd. between January 2014 and February 2015.

The award letters, according to the arms probe panel, contained misleading delivery dates, suggesting fraudulent intent in the award process.

Operatives are also grilling the ex-chief of army staff and the two senior officers over the procurement of two used Mi-24V Helicopters instead of the recommended Mi- 35M series at the cost of $136,944,000. The helicopters were discovered to be excessively priced and not operationally airworthy at the time of delivery.

The arms probe panel established that a brand new unit of Mi-24V Helicopter goes for about $30 million. The helicopters were delivered without rotor blades and upgrade accessories.

The three of them are also being grilled over the procurement of four used Alpha-Jets for the NAF at the cost of $7,180,000. Whereas NAF paid for four used Alpha-Jets, the panel confirmed that only two of the Alpha-Jet aircraft were ferried to Nigeria after cannibalisation of engines from the NAF fleet.

They are also being investigated in the procurement of 36D6 Low Level Air Defence Radar for NAF, which was awarded to GAT Techno Dynamics Ltd in April 2014 at the cost of $33 million under his watch.

The arms panel averred that the radars were excessively priced as a complete set of such radars goes for $6 million.

Acting on the recommendations made by the 13-man presidential committee auditing arms procurement between 2007 and 2015, President Muhammadu Buhari, had ordered the EFCC to conduct further investigation on the indictment of Amosu, former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh (rtd); Air Marshal M.D. Umar (Rtd), Maj- Gen. ER Chioba (Rtd), AVM I.A. Balogun (Rtd), AVM A.G. Tsakr (Rtd), AVM A.G. Idowu (Rtd), AVM AM Mamu, AVM O.T Oguntoyinbo, and AVM T Omenyi. Others were: AVM J.B. Adigun, AVM R.A. Ojuawo, AVM JA Kayode-Beckley, Air Cdre S.A. Yushau (Rtd), Air Cdre A.O. Ogunjobi, Air Cdre G.M.D. Gwani, Air Cdre SO Makinde, Air Cdre A.Y. Lassa, Col. N. Ashinze and Lt Col. M.S. Dasuki (Rtd). Badeh had been in the custody of EFCC since Monday. Over N29 billion and $2 billion had been expended on the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) procurement activities alone between 2007 and 2015.

Drama as mother-of-three vomits cocaine at Abuja airport

Saidat Bola Hassan created a scene at the International Airport, Abuja when she vomited 15 wraps of cocaine at the central screening section of the departure hall during the screening of passengers on an Egypt Airline flight to Jedda, Saudi Arabia en-route Cairo.


She was then immediately apprehended by officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) who later discovered that she had ingested 80 wraps of cocaine weighing 904 grammes. She later excreted the remaining 65 wraps.


Hassan, a native of Idiroko, Ogun State, who resides in Lagos Island, said: “I am a business woman and I sell women clothes at Balogun market. I used to buy my goods from Ghana. I was introduced into the drug business by a friend and business partner.


The drug was brought from Abidjan, Ivory Coast and we were to share the proceeds equally. Until my arrest, I never knew that the cocaine I ingested would have led to my death in Saudi Arabia. I thank God for keeping me alive"

PDP sacks Haliru Bello as BoT Chairman.

The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Board of Trustees sacked Dr. Haliru Bello Mohammed as its Acting Chairman.

The board at a meeting on Wednesday at the party’s headquarters in Abuja directed its Secretary, Senator Walid Jibril, to act as Acting Chairman.

The development was announced to reporters by Senator Jibril after the meeting of the BoT.

Mohammed, a former Chairman of the PDP and his son, Abbah Mohammed, are being prosecuted by the Economics and Financial Crimes Commission, over their involvement in the alleged diversion of arms procurement funds.

‘Back from the dead?’ Woman gatecrashes her own funeral to shock husband who hired hitmen to kill her

A MELBOURNE woman gatecrashed her own funeral to surprise the husband who had paid hitmen £3,500 ($7,182) to kill her.

Noela Rukundo confronted Balenga Kalala, her partner of 10 years, outside the service in her honour.

Terrified, he held his head in his hands and asked her, “Is it my eyes? Is it a ghost,” even touching her shoulder to check she was real.

“Surprise! I’m still alive!” she told him.

And he was surpised. Just days earlier the mum-of-eight had been snatched from outside a hotel in Bujumbura, the capital of Burundi, by a group of armed hitmen.

She had travelled to the east African country with her husband — from their home in Melbourne, Australia — to attend the funeral of a family member.

The strange man grabbed and blindfolded her and drove her to an unfamiliar building.

“I hear the men and they said, ‘You woman, what did you do for this man to pay us to kill you’,” she told the ABC.

“I said, ‘What are you talking about?’”

The boss told Rukundo he had been sent to kill her.

“I say, ‘You lie. My husband can’t send anyone to kill me’,” she said.

“They laughed and said, ‘You’re a fool, you’re stupid’.”

The men let Rukundo listen in on a call with her husband, in which he could be heard ordering them to kill her.

But instead of carrying out the command, the men decided to let her go, telling her that they didn’t believe in killing women — and also knew her brother.

Rukundo was freed after two days and she told BBC the gang said, ‘We give you 80 hours to leave this country’.

They told her Kalala was serious and they could spare her life, but not other people’s.

They released her with a mobile phone and evidence of her husband’s plot.

With help from the Kenyan and Belgian embassies and her pastor in Melbourne, Rukundo was able to return home — ready to surprise her scheming husband, who had told friends and family members she had been killed in an accident.

Kalala initially denied plotting to kill his wife, but he eventually confessed in a phone call that was secretly recorded by police.

He was arrested and a year on he has been sentenced to nine years in prison for incitement to murder.

Rukundo, meanwhile, has experienced a backlash from members of the African community in Melbourne, who are angry she reported her husband to the police.

She has been sent threatening messages and had her back door broken.

But she is determined to stay tough for the sake of her eight kids.

She told the BBC: “I knew he was a violent man. But I didn’t believe he can kill me.”

”Every night, I see what was happening in those two days with the kidnappers.

“(But) I will stand up like a strong woman. My situation, my past life? That is gone. I’m starting a new life now.”

According to the BBC, Kalala could not explain to police his reasoning for wanting to kill his wife and suggested, “Sometimes [the] devil can come into someone to do something but after they do it, they start thinking, ‘Why I did that thing?’”
